I have been breeding and grooming companion birds for over 20 years. Just recently I have decided to quit breeding the larger birds, I hate to see these beautiful birds get re-homed over and over again. large birds have different personalities than smaller varieties. Re-homing these large bird takes it's toll on them mentally and physically.
Larger birds become so attached to their owners, when separated from them they act just like a small child ...acting out ... tantrums, screaming ... just plain bad behavior or it could get even worse. Bad behavior can lead to more permanent bad habits such as; feather plucking, self mutilation, eating problems, aggression and depression. They may never recover from these bad habits ...thus getting re-homed again and again.
So if you really want the larger bird it must be a life long commitment.
